Etymology

Silurana: from Greek: siluros = catfish; Latin: rana = frog; (the tadpole with its barbels at the base of the mouth looks like a small catfish, and the similar Xenopus-tadpoles were unknown at that time)

Limits are: NORTH: Gambia: Lamin (13°23'N, 16°39'W) — SOUTH: Angola: Dundo (07°23'S, 20°50'E) — WEST: Gambia: Lamin (13°23'N, 16°39'W) — EAST: Zaïre: Moba (07°03'S, 29°47'E).
