Etymology
epitropicalis: from Greek: epi- = close, near to (tropicalis)
Type material and localities
Holotype: BMNH 1982.462. Type Locality: "confluent de la Funa et de la Kemi, à 8 km au Sud du centre de Kinshasa (Zaïre); altitude 350 m; 4°18'S, 15°18'E".
Country records from Angola, Cameroun, Centrafrique, Congo, Gabon, Zaïre. Limits are: NORTH: Zaïre: Aka, headwaters (04°35'N, 29°42'E) — SOUTH: Angola: Dundo (07°23'S, 20°50'E) — WEST: Gabon: Fernand-Vaz (01°34'S, 09°15'E) — EAST: Zaïre: Moba (07°03'S, 29°47'E).
